✨Kyanite derives its name from the Greek word "kyanos," which means "blue." In China, it is also known as "eryingshi" , as kyanite is a blue crystal formed by multiple layers of mineralization. Its hardness differs significantly between the direction of well-developed cleavage and the direction perpendicular to the crystallization, hence its name.
🔮Kyanite is a new type of refractory material belonging to high-alumina minerals. It exhibits strong resistance to chemical corrosion, high thermal shock mechanical strength, and irreversible thermal expansion. It is a primary raw material for producing unshaped materials, electric furnace top bricks, phosphate unfired bricks, mullite bricks, and low-creep bricks. Additionally, kyanite is a metamorphic mineral mainly found in regionally metamorphosed crystalline schists, with metamorphic phases ranging from green schist to amphibolite. Kyanite belongs to the triclinic crystal system and usually appears as a flattened columnar crystal with parallel stripes on its surface. Its color ranges from light blue or cyan to bright grayish white.
🔮Due to its well-developed cleavage and fragility, kyanite is challenging to carve into jewelry. However, its beautiful color and texture make it a favorite among collectors fascinated by blue minerals.
