Selenite

Selenite

✨Selenite, also known as "transparent gypsum," belongs to the same mineral family as gypsum (calcium sulfate). Its main component is calcium sulfate dihydrate, and it is commonly found in places like Mexico, Morocco, and the United States.

🔮The appearance of selenite is quite variable. High-grade selenite crystals are nearly transparent, with only slight filamentous reflections. From a distance, they can be mistaken for very clear white quartz. Another common form of selenite has a snowy white translucent appearance, and when swung back and forth, it exhibits a metallic, wire-like reflection, but with a softer gloss. This type of selenite is extremely healing and beautiful, and in English, it is referred to as Satin Spar. In Chinese, a more precise term would be "fiber gypsum."

🔮Selenite can be traced back to the Roman period, where Romans used it to make window glass. The name "Selenite" was given by J.G. Wallerius (1709-1785), a Swedish chemist and mineralogist, who mentioned it in his book Mineralogia. This book holds a significant position in mineral research.

🔮As a healing crystal, selenite possesses amazing purifying energy and emits calming vibrations. When you hold selenite, you can feel a sense of tranquility and peace flowing through your body. It can alleviate stress, soothe anxiety, and promote inner peace and harmony.
