Topaz, with two theories regarding its origin: one suggests it evolved from the Greek word "Topazios," originally referring to a small island named "Topazos" in the Red Sea, abundant in yellow peridot but mistakenly called yellow topaz by locals. The other theory posits it derived from the Sanskrit word "Topas," meaning "fire."
🔮Topaz is a silicate mineral with the chemical formula Al₂SiO₄(F,OH)₂, formed under specific geological conditions. Typically, topaz is created in volcanic regions, especially within fluorine-bearing rocks like granite and rhyolite. Geological movements combine high-temperature, high-pressure environments underground with fluorine-rich aqueous solutions to form topaz crystals. Its colors are diverse, mostly due to the presence of trace elements in the crystal, such as iron and chromium. The color of topaz can sometimes be altered through processes like heating and irradiation.
🔮Topaz finds extensive use in jewelry design and has gradually developed new cultural symbolic meanings. Yellow topaz symbolizes friendship and wisdom, blue topaz represents calmness and honesty, while pink topaz is seen as a symbol of love and romantic luck.
